When Virgil Abloh was given access to the entire Alessi portfolio to choose one object for a collaboration, he chose the 9093 Whistling Bird Teakettle, designed by Michael Graves in 1985.

The result is the 3909. The form is the original. What Abloh changed is the whistle and the color. The bird has been redesigned as a basketball player, a figure drawn from Abloh's personal history and the multicultural world of basketball. The handle, knob, and whistle are finished in an intense purple. The rest of the kettle is unchanged: mirror-polished stainless steel, the same arch handle form, the same rivet details.

Produced in a numbered edition of 9,999 pieces. Made in Italy. Works on all cooktops, including induction.
